Rude Dog Tractor Pull Rules

The rules are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of the garden tractor pulling event and to reduce the risk of injury to both participants and spectators. It is ultimately the obligation of each participant to ensure that his/her conduct and equipment comply with all applicable rules and regulations and use common sense. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from the compliance with these rules. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to pullers or spectators. Rules may be subject to change as deemed necessary for safety or function of the pull.

General Rules Pertaining to all Drivers

  1. No alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed. Any driver drinking or under the influence before or during the pull will not be allowed to pull at the event and will be asked to leave the property.
  2. All drivers under 14 must have a responsible adult with them at all times, when the tractor is running or operating. Drivers must be at least 8 years old to pull.
  3. No unsafe acts permitted on the track or in the pits.
  4. Drivers must wear proper clothing; shirt, long pants and shoes are required.
  5. DRIVERS MUST WATCH THE FLAGMAN AT ALL TIMES. Tractor must stop upon signal from the flagman. Decisions by the event officials are final.
  6. Drivers must remain in the seat with one hand on the steering wheel at all times during the pull.
  7. Drivers must keep fingers away from being wrapped under the fenders. Any event official may disqualify the driver if they see his/her fingers under the fenders.
  8. Each tractor may be entered once per class. The only exception is in the youth class where each tractor may be entered twice per class by two different drivers. One pull per tractor unless he/she is test puller or a tie is declared. Each driver is allowed two attempts within the 35 foot mark. The second attempt is official.
  9. Tractors must remain inside the boundary lines at all times or they will be disqualified.
  10. Event officials will have the final decision as to the class a tractor may compete.
  11. Any violation or failure to comply with these rules will result in immediate disqualification.
  12. Anything not covered by these rules will be discussed and acted upon by  the event officials.
  13.  All drivers must attend the drivers meeting before the pull.
  14. Single mod, Pro stock, stock altered, and open classes MUST wear a helmet if alcohol fuel is used must wear full fire suit.
  15. Paybacks will be based on the entry fees, after expenses collected for the class.
  16. ALL DRIVERS MUST WEAR A HELMET MUST BE D.O.T APPROVED AND LONG PANTS.
  17. FUEL- no specific gravity less than .700 or over .770 measured at 60 degrees, gas or racefuel, no additivive or e85, no nitrious or any other pressurized fuel tanks

Rules Pertaining to all Tractors

  1. Contest is open to two wheel drive, rear wheel drive rubber tired tractors.
  2. No portion of the tractor may interfere with the sled or chain during the pull.
  3. Rear fenders must be in place. Clutches, belts and open drive shafts must be shielded same as factory.
  4. No tractor may exceed 6’ in width or extend more than 7’ in front of the rear axle.
  5. Weight brackets/weights may not extend behind the rear of the rear tires. All weights must be securely fastened. Weights and other objects lost while the hook is in the hitch will cause disqualification.
  6. All tractors must have working breaks capable of safely stopping the machine.
  7. Drivers seats must stock type or have a minimum of 3” high back.
  8. Mower attachments must be removed or have the driver mechanism removed.
  9. Wheelie bars are MANDATORY on all tractors. They must be able to hold the weight of a tractor. Maximum of 5” above the ground and must be at least 5” behind the rear tire. Skid plates must be at least 2” x 3”, or wheels.  Wheelie wheels will be measure to the center of the wheel.
  10. All tractors must have a working governor set at the maximum engine speed for the class or less, at full throttle.
  11.  Kill switches with a 1” diameter hole are required  
  12. Tractors must be equipped with a hitch stable in all directions.  Must have a 1.5” hole for sled hook and be ½” thick at point of hook.  Maximum length of 16” from center of rear axle to hook point.  A clevis may be used.

3600 Gov. Class 16 HP Class

Youth – 900 Lb. – under age 14.

 

  1. Tractors with one or two cylinder engine.
  2. OEM flywheel only, no cutting, welding or adding weight(to flywheel)-no chevy points
  3. 6 or 8 inch front wheels, 3 rib tires permitted. Maximum rear tire size 23x10.50x12”. Any type of rear tires. No pro puller tires. No cutting permitted. No after-market wheels.
  4. Engines are ANTHING UP TO  16HP twins or singles.
  5. Hitch height 10”.
  6. Stock stroke and .030” overbore maximum for engine used.
  7. Must use stock cast cam.  No steel or 2 piece cams, no after market or re-ground cams permitted, stock valves or equivalent replacement, no porting, governor must be hooked up and working properly 
  8. Stock OEM size valves and valve seats.
  9. Gear changes are allowed.
  10. Foot and hand throttle permitted.
  11. Maximum of 3600 RPM.
  12. OEM carburetor for engine must have stock air cleaner assembly for engine. Max venture diameter of 1.00”. No high performance fuel pumps. Choke must be installed and working.
  13. Exhaust pipes with no muffler must discharge vertically 12” minimum from center of the bend.
  14. Must maintain factor stance.
  15. Pump gasoline with a maximum of 95 octane only, no e85, alcohol, racing furl or additives permitted 
  16. OEM carbarator for engine used with no carbarator to engine spacer or velocity stack, no visual modifications to venture, throttle borh, or outside of carbarator, no air entering after venture 

4000 Gov. 16HP Class

 

  1. Stock appearing tractors with standard type 1 or 2 cylinder engine or equivalent replacement and stock appearing drive train for make and model.
  2. Engine no aftermarket blocks, maximum over boor .030 from stock boor of engine, stock stroke, steel crankshaft:okay, any cam: okay, valve allowed maximum lift .32 inches stock size valves for engine being used or equivalent replacement and stocks valve seats 
  3. 23x10.50x12” maximum rear tire size. No cutting permitted. No pro puller tires. 6 or 8” front  wheels permitted. After market wheels and 3 rib tires permitted.
  4. 10” hitch height.
  5. Stock stroke and .030” maximum overbore for engine used.
  6. Must have cast camshaft, regrinds allowed, no steel cams allowed. Porting is allowed.
  7. No welding, grinding or polishing on cylinder head.  No after-market heads .   aftermarket head gaskets are allowed
  8. OEM valve seats and valves for factory rated H.P of the engine model being used.
  9. OEM type carburetor for engine used no carburetor spacers or velocity stacks. Maximum venture diameter of 1.00”. No high performance fuel pumps.
  10. Steel or cast flywheel permitted. No cutting, welding, or adding weight to flywheel.
  11. Foot or hand throttle permitted.
  12. Maximum of 4000 RPM, governor must be hooked up and working 
  13. Exhaust pipes, with no muffler, must discharge vertically, 12” minimum from center of bend.
  14. Must maintain factory stance.
  15. chevy points are ok
  16. No high performance fuel pumps 
  17. Fuel- no specific gravity less than .700 or over .770 measured at 60 degrees, gas or race fuel, no additives or e85, no nitious oxide or any other pressurized fuel tanks
  18. OEM carburetor for engine used with no carburetor to engine spacers or velocity stacks, no bottom adjust carb unless originally equipped, no recast carbs, choke removal allowed max venture diameter of 1.00, no air entering after venture
  19. No after market crank trigger ignition system 

4000 Gov. Classes; 20 & 25

 

 

  1. Stock appearing tractors with standard type 1 or 2 cylinder engine or equivalent replacement and stock appearing drive train for make and model.
  2. Gasoline only
  3. 26x12.00x12” max. rear tire size. No pro puller tires,but big bar cepeks uncut are permitted. 6 or 8”  front rims permitted. After market wheels and 3 rib tires permitted no tire cutting
  4. 13” hitch height.
  5. Stock stroke and .030” maximum overbore for engine used.
  6. Must have cast camshaft, regrinds allowed, no steel cams allowed. Porting is allowed. 0-20 HP maximum lift .275 inches
  7. No welding, grinding or polishing on cylinder head. OEM or after-market head gaskets  allowed. No after-market heads.
  8. OEM valve seats and valves for factory rated H.P of the engine model being used.
  9. OEM carburetor for engine used with no carburetor spacers or velocity stacks. Maximum century diameter of 1.00”. No performance fuel pumps. TWO BARREL CARBS ARE ALLOWED IN THE 25 CLASS ONLY  THE 20 CLASS IS STILL SINGLE BARREL CARB.  2 BARREL CARB PERMITTED ON 20      HP B&S VANGUARD.
  10. OEM cast flywheel or steel. No cutting, welding, or adding weight to flywheel.
  11. Foot or hand throttle permitted.
  12. 4000 RPM max.
  13. Exhaust pipes, with no muffler, must discharge vertically, 12” minimum from center of bend.
  14. Must maintain factory stance.
  15. 0-20 HPtwin overhead valve 40 cubic inch limit, flat head 50 cubic inch limit 
  16. 0-25 HP any cam shaft max lift .275 inch, no aftermarket heads, no roller lifters
  17. No nitrious, no e85 

Max 4000 Gov.Classes

            .

  1. Must be block Kohler, Briggs or Tecumseh single cylinder, flat head engines 15 HP and under, with nine bolt heads. Max. 4000 RPM.
  2. Foot or hand throttle permitted.
  3. Fuel maybe gasoline or VP, C-12. No alcohol.
  4. The engine must look stock on the outside. Must have stock stroke for engine, all other internal modifications are acceptable. An access hole over the piston is recommended for checking purposes. After market points and electronic ignition allowed.
  5. The head may be after-market or billet but must look like an OEM, i.e. must have fins, head bolts, must match a stock OEM head gasket. Head straps are allowed.
  6.  OEM cast flywheel with no cutting, welding, or adding weight or steel flywheels acceptable.
  7. Carburetor must be stock car for engine or a Kohler or Walbro, carb spacers, velocity stacks and bottom adjusts are acceptable. No high performance fuel pumps.
  8. Exhaust pipes, with no muffler, must discharge vertically, 12” minimum from center of bend.
  9. 26x12.00x12” max rear tire size, with a maximum rollout of 78”. Cutting permitted. Professional pulling tires allowed, this includes tires by Dick Cepek, Lawn Tec., Pit Bull and VM series tires. After-market wheels and 3 rib tires permitted. 
  10. 13” hitch height. The hitch must have a 1.5” diameter hole for sled hook and be ½” thick at point of hook.
  11. Must use stock garden tractor frame and transaxle, but may be modified for engine installation. No portion of any tractor may exceed 7 feet forward of the center of the rear wheel, including weights. 52” wheelbase maximum.
  12. Engine tech items will be RPM with no tolerance, stock stroke, exterior appearance and no alcohol. If engine is other than  K-Kohler you must supply tech person with a stock head gasket for your engine.

Open Class 1050 weight    

  1. Maximum width may be up to 55 inches from outside of sidewall to outside side wall.
  2. Maximum wheelbase is to be 96 inches from the center of the rear axle to center of front axle, maximum length of tractor: 96 inches 
  3. All machines must have kill switch or tether switch attachable to the sled.
  4. Alcohol fuel is permitted but no nitrous oxide.
  5. Rear fenders must be installed to offer adequate protection to the driver’s legs and other body parts.
  6. Exhaust must exit 45 degrees vertical or horizontal to the rear or to the side 
  7. Tire tread must fit 12”wide, 26”tall gauge.  No wheel size limit. No studs, chains, wire or duals permitted.
  8. Drivers 16 or older 
  9. Hitch height 13”.
  10. Engine must be motorcycle or snowmobile  with limit of 4 cylinders.
  11. No turbos or super chargers

GOV. Hydro Class

  1. Tractors must remain stock stance.
  2. Stock engine 1, 2 or 3 cylinder engines with a max overbore of .30 and 4000RPM max.
  3. Wheelie bars are required. Must be able to support the weight of the tractor and not allow the front axle to rise more than24” above its normal position.
  4. Factory or straight pipe exhaust permitted.
  5. OEM cam with OEM specs only. No after-markets or regrinds. Stock size OEM valves and valve seats. No porting, polishing or after-market heads.
  6. Safety kill switches are required.
  7. OEM cast OR STEEL  flywheel only. No cutting or adding weight.
  8. Transmission must be factory for the model tractor.
  9. Hitch heights are 10” for 0-16 class; 13” for 0-25.
  10. Tire sizes are 23x10.5x12 for 0-16 hp class; 26x12x12 for 0-25.
  11. Ag or Turf tires are allowed. No duals or chains. Tire cutting is permitted.
  12. Gasoline or Diesel engines are allowed.
  13. OEM carb or injection pump and OEM fuel pump for model of engine. No velocity stacks, spacers or turbos.
  14. Foot or hand throttle permitted.

Stock Altered, Pro Stock, Super Stock and other classes not mentioned above will follow NQS Rules.
